That's a pretty wavy roof, so somethings wrong with the structure already.

For this kind of chimney with brick you don’t flashed like this You have to cut where the mortar is. By code you can’t cut the bricks I’m very sure you do it out of code This is not how the original flashing is on the chimney now this chimney it has a chance to fall in one earthquake because you cut the brick.

He talks about saving money as if that is an indicator on whether you're getting a quality roofing job. It's not. I don't know how this guy does his business. I don't know him. but just because he charges more money does not mean you will get a better roof. The part he and many contractors probably won't tell you or want you to know is that most contractors or roof salesman will sub-contract the work out. Those guys are the gangs that bring 8 to 10 guys out. Their job is to get it done quickly and make money. many times, those same quality mistakes that he shows on video. I would bet that he himself has done. There is no such thing as a perfect roof. the best thing is to check out your contractor by other people who were satisfied with their work.

Roofing is not rocket science but there are intelligent roofers with integrity and the others not so much. It’s getting more difficult to find people like you for any kind of trade. Hopefully your videos will help homeowners not to get ripped off.

In Ohio you have to install Iceguard first because the snow will sit there all winter, also the drip and gutter must be installed correctly

Your shingles don’t have proper overhang over the gutter apron

When i see ridgevents from a ground level, some look clean lines and straight while others are wavy and uneven, probably like this one... the plastic can get deformed and look pretty awful

Wouldn't you want to make the opening not over a truss.

How do you keep safe getting off the roof after you have removed the bracket or before you have put the bracket on?

This is the exact tutorial I have been looking for. I have the same problem, not quite that bad. There was an attempt of a kick out with the bendy flashing but still overshoots. I didn't want to put a splash guard up as I was concerned as the water runs fast it may push the water over the fascia and under the eaves. So thank you I learnt what a kick out was today!

I'm on my 4th roof leak, roof is 19 years old. Most recent leak I found about 6 exposed/low nails. Can't believe the terrible workmanship of people these days. I really wish people took pride in their work like you.

I use these as a painter . We spend a lot of time in one place so I put down a drop or sometimes cardboard and staple it down (lightweight) so it wont slide That way I don't wear out the shingles where my feet dig in . I've seen MANY roofs with worn out patches from trades being on them for extended periods

Question : I have to do an add-on roof 4ft extended to cover full cement Patio I can tie into my trusses at the roof edge but the roof pitch will bring the new edge to 6.2ft to floor I need a tad more height how will it look professionally to bump the pitch upward at the addition to get to 6.7 inches ? I know it world be a perfect world scenario to cut into the existing roof at proper height to get 8feet but it’s a gambrel roof from Amish country as in a kit Question: so is it safe to say that if I followed the shingle installing instructions for placement of nails, and shingle placement, I shouldn't expect leaks too soon? My back yard is hilly country-style and we are I bedded and surrounded by wind-breaking pine and other trees.so while I don't get a lot of wind, ivslsovdont get a lot of sunlight with all the shade trees either.. Not the best environment but better than living 23 miles from Louisiana Gulf🤔

Rounded corners have less of a chance to peel up over time just saying .

Cut valleys are a terrible way to do a valley . Up north where they get a lot of snow , a weaved valley is best. Down south a Deadman valley is best. The open valley is only works where they get little to no rain. And probably the worst way to do a valley.

Seems like normal workmanship for contractors today. Unfortunately these days, nobody gives a damn about quality or takes any pride is their work. Pretty much why I spend $1000's in tools and 100's of hours researching then DIY.
